Catering

The Descanso Junction Restaurant has been a part of the historic landscape of the East County Mountains since the early 1900s. In 2003 when Brett and Tammy Cooker took ownership they have grown it into a destination spot for many people traveling in East County, as well as a daily stop for many of the locals to come and visit. The decor was redone in 2013 with the help of family and friends in a 'barn raising' spirit. Prior to the remodel the owners had a branding party where local customers and ranchers brought their brands to give the new tables and bar an old western flair, hard to find anywhere in this day and age. Stop by to enjoy a truly country feel, a great meal, and a friendly atmosphere also hard to find in this day and age.

Descanso Junction catered a Mexican Buffet for us for 60 friends and neighbors and we could not have been happier! The food was delicious and the service was superb. From the moment we met with Tammy Cooker everything was taken care of in a friendly and professional way and all we had to do was come to the party!

A non-refundable deposit of $250.00 will hold the date of your event. To go towards final contract amount.
One month before the event, menu and rentals finalized and 50% of balance due at that time.
Two weeks before the event, guaranteed guest count and final rental list is due, adjustments to final contract amount will be tallied at that time.
Final payment due, one week prior to event. For last minute bookings we are happy to make arrangement to accommodate your event.


Booking the Event

All cancellations must be called or emailed to Desacanso Junction.
If cancelled within 8-29 days prior to the event date 10% of the initial 50% deposit will be refunded. If cancelled 0-7 days prior to the event there will be no refund.
Any other real charges incurred by Descanso Junction such as rentals, or services are nonrefundable.


Cancelation Policy

We are happy to come to any location. Venues that are more than 15 miles from Descanso Junction is considered an off premise catered event. There will be an additional trip charge of $1.50 a mile for these occasions.

We are licensed and insured to cater any public or private event. Our courteous and professional staff are committed to making your event a day to remember. We look forward to serving you.

About Us

All food service events will have an additional 18% gratuity applied. Please note that California law stipulates all service charges are taxable.

Gratuity

California State sales tax is applied to all food service events at the current rate of 7.75%. Please let your catering representative know if you have tax exempt status.

Sales Tax

For $ 75.00 an hour we can bring staff to set up all tables, chairs, linens, as well as setting in place any of the client's personal items such as centerpieces etc. This service includes returning after the reception to facilitate the breakdown of tables, chairs, linens, and cleanup of reception area( sweeping, mopping, and trash removal)


Before and After Event Assistance

Our catering staff can deliver food directly to your facility at any time. Those events which do not require full service, will be charged a flat delivery fee. Deliveries can be discussed with our catering representative.

Included Services

All events include set up and breakdown of buffet and appetizer tables, an onsite chef and servers to attend to every guests needs up to a 1.5 hour period. These charges are included in the package prices. The area for service should be clear and ready upon our arrival. Additional $100.00 an hour keeps our staff longer than the 1.5 hour serving time if your event requires that.

Additional Service

Depending on the complexity of the event, menu and additional services we usually plan 1 to 2 hours for set up and ½ to 1 hour for cleanup. Any additional services required (such as additional staff, China service, Bartenders and before and after event assistance) will require a per person price for each service.

Tray passed Appetizers and China Service

We are happy to provide either of these services for an additional $50.00 an hour for extra staffing and to insure excellent service

Cake cutting and Champagne Service

These services are included in the package price

Bartending Services

We can provide a bar tender for your event for $35.00 an hour (minimum 4hrs.) 120 guest or less –one bartender recommended, for over 120 guest 2 bartenders are recommended. Wine and Beer can be provided by us: refer to beverage package prices

Amounts and Left Overs

Food is prepared based on one serving of each item on the menu chosen per guest. We always plan for about 10% over in case unexpected guests arrive. Please try to provide us with the most accurate count possible. Once the guaranteed final guest count is given, any additional guests above the guaranteed number will be served and billed at regular package price. Left over food (if the actual guest count is below the guaranteed count) we will pack the food for the host to cover the missing guests.)

Our 32 foot catering trailer is available for each event, we will grill the food right in front of your guests, with smells that will drive them crazy. If there is no accommodations for the size of our trailer we are happy to bring portable BBQ's and cooking facilities. If adequate electricity is not available, a generator rental will be required. Chuck Wagon Onsite

We are happy to have you as our guest for a tasting of the foods that you are interested in for your event. There will be a charge of $ 40.00 which will include two Entrees, Two Appetizers, and One Dessert. Additional items are $10.00 per.
